Volunteer Lawyer Program

The core service of FBLC, our Volunteer Lawyer Program will match qualified applicants with volunteer attorneys willing to handle cases on a pro bono basis. FBLC volunteers handle most types of civil cases, including family law, consumer issues, landlord/tenant, estate planning, probate and guardianship. We do not handle immigration issues, but work closely with other organizations who accept referrals of these types of cases. Our funding sources restrict FBLC from handling fee generating lawsuits, criminal proceedings and traffic proceedings. The types of cases that will be matched to volunteer lawyers include:

* Landlord/Tenant Disputes
* Deceptive Trade Practices Disputes

   Family Law

* Divorce
* Adoption
* Change of Name

   Real Property

* Resolving Title Problems
* Transfers of Title

   Wills and Probate

* Simple Estate Planning
* Powers of Attorney
* Medical Powers of Attorney
* Directives to Physicians
* Probate of Simple Wills
* Probate of Estates Without Wills
* Guardianships

   CASES NOT ACCEPTED:

* No paternity cases are accepted.
* No fee generating cases are accepted.
* No traffic court cases are accepted.
* No criminal cases are accepted.
* Incarcerated applicants are ineligible for services.
